This is one of the most frequently asked questions by students planning on studying law in the UK. A Qualifying law degree from an accredited university in the UK would allow you to practice law in Canada. The process is simple. Upon returning to Canada, you must submit your law degree from the UK to the NCA (National Committee on Accreditation) who will then assess your credentials.
After assessing your credentials, the NCA will assign a number of exams to help you convert your UK degree into a Canadian Law Degree. Once you complete these exams, you will be issued a certificate of qualification which will confirm that your credentials are equal to that of a Canadian law degree. You will then be able to apply for the bar admissions and articling positions just as a Canadian law graduate would.

The NCA exams are self study, most students breeze through the exams using our CanLawBridge NCA Study Guides. Our study guides are comprehensive, detail oriented, in full compliance with the most current syllabus, and include practice exams.
However, each student has a different learning style and some prefer coaching and tutoring. Tutoring is recommended if you have trouble understanding difficult concepts, and having your questions answered by a professional can definitely make you feel more confident in your exam preparations.
This is a great question and is often asked by foreign trained lawyers who have either just arrived in Canada and are feeling overwhelmed by the entire process, or foreign lawyers planning on immigrating to Canada to start a new life.
The answer to this question is far from simple. While it is true that the Canadian market is flooded, the practice of law is a business like any other which requires a great deal of skills including networking and interpersonal skills to help grow your business.
While there are many career alternatives in Canada, some people enjoy the thrill of restarting their career and enjoying the rewards of their hard work, patience, and leveraging their existing skillset in the new jurisdiction.
Our consultants can better help you find the answers you are looking for, and if the process seems intimidating we are here to help make it effortlessly simple for you.
